Education

  • April 2002 - Laurea Degree in Aerospace Engineering, University of Pisa. The thesis was aimed at carrying out the activities related with the circuit completion (CPTF) and the experiments necessary for characterizing a commercial double-stage turbopump (centrifugal impeller and inducer) in cavitating or noncavitating conditions. The main experiments carried out so far have been concerned with thermal scaling of cryogenic fluids in water and the characterization of cavitation instabilities such as surge and rotating cavitation. In addition, a hydrodynamic tunnel (TCT) has been designed, as an expansion of the facility, with the purpose of investigating cavitation phenomena on test bodies. As a part of my thesis work, I have been in charge with the design, assembling and validation of the tunnel.
