Education October 2000 - Laurea Degree in Aerospace Engineering, University of Pisa. The objective of the thesis was the design and realization of a facility for testing scaled models of turbopumps. The facility, versatile and economic, allows for the experimental characterization of various kinds of cavitating pumps in fluidodynamic, geometric and thermal similarity conditions, using water as working fluid. Besides, it gives the possibility to characterize rotordynamic instabilities, representing a novel and advanced tool for technology research in this field for the Italian and European turbopump manufacturers.
